This painting was completed digitally using Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter on a Wacom Cintiq. Some of the drips were created digitally, other sections were created using actual oil paint on a primed paper surface then scanned and layered in with the digitally painted elements. The blocks of color around the lion are sort of mini palettes to test colors (which in a digital environment are unnecessary, of course), but enjoyed the reference to working with actual materials. It also serves as a flattening counter-point to the realistic rendering of the lion.
