30 x 46 inches
oil on cradled panel

This canvas was originally "completed" when I was in grad school, and featured a profile of a charolais bull. After having it in a few exhibitions, the painting ended up in storage for 15+ years. At that point, I decided to give it a new life by reworking it. The main focus was on reworking the bull, making it more detailed and realistic. Much of the background is how it was originally, including the hand-painted lettering on the left and the grid background. In it's reworking, I decided to give it a title that alludes to the Greek/Roman myth, the rape of Europa, and used the Roman name for Zeus (Jupiter). The chart of solar system that overlaps the bull ties in with the planets named after Roman gods.
